Get Involved

At Poular Legacy, we believe that everyone deserves food, clothing, and shelter today, and the job training, education, and support needed to build a better tomorrow. But we can’t build that tomorrow alone. Whether you have two hours a week, a professional skill to share, or resources to give, you can be the shield and the support our neighbors need to leave homelessness behind.

Here is how you can step up and make an impact across our core programs:

1. Phase 1: Direct Relief (Food & Clothing)

Help us meet urgent, everyday physical needs and build trust with those living on the streets.

The Program: The Community Kitchen & Dignity Closet

What we do: Serve hot, nutritious meals and distribute weather-appropriate clothing and hygiene essentials.

 How Volunteers Can Help:

Kitchen Crew: Assist with preparing, cooking, and serving hot meals.

Closet Organizers: Sort through clothing donations and help participants find the right sizes and winter gear.

Supply Drivers: Pick up food and clothing donations from local businesses and grocery partners.

2. Phase 2: Barriers Removal & Education (Growth)

Empower our participants by helping them recover their legal identity and learn essential life skills.

The Program: The Identity Clinic & Empowerment Classes

What we do: Help participants order missing state IDs/birth certificates, resolve minor legal issues, and teach computer and language (ESL) skills.

 How Volunteers Can Help:

ID Navigators: Sit with participants to help them fill out paperwork and navigate government websites to recover lost documents.

Volunteer Instructors: Teach basic computer skills (like creating an email or typing) or host conversational English practice.

Legal Advocates: (Lawyers or legal assistants) Provide pro-bono advice at our Know-Your-Rights workshops to help fight wrongful evictions.

3. Phase 3: Employment & Community (Independence)

Walk alongside participants as they step into full-time employment and move into their own homes.

The Program: The Job Launchpad & Community Circles

What we do: Build resumes, practice interviews, and offer spiritual, emotional, and housing support to ensure long-term stability.

 How Volunteers Can Help:

Career Mentors: Help participants write resumes, search for local jobs, and practice mock interviews.

Community Buddies: Join our weekly circles to offer friendship, optional faith-based mentorship, and emotional support to neighbors transitioning into independent living.

Move-In Teams: Help participants physically move furniture and settle into their new apartments once they find housing.
